Never called me back.

Flagged · needs your eyes first
Draft reply · in your voiceNot posted

Dana, you're right to be frustrated, and I'm sorry. A missed call-back isn't how we want to treat anyone. Please call me directly at (912) 555-0142 and I'll make sure you're taken care of. — Mike, Owner

Check first: Find Dana in your call log before posting. Keep job details out of the reply.

The real problem

You don't have a review problem. You have a reply problem.

The reviews come in. You mean to answer them. Then you're on a job, the day gets away from you, and three weeks later that 1-star review is still sitting there with no reply. Anyone comparing you to the company down the street sees it and draws their own conclusion.

Plain AI doesn't fix it either. "Thank you for your valuable feedback! We strive to provide excellent service." Nobody believes a reply like that, and it can look worse than no reply at all.

The reviewer has already made up their mind. The people reading your reply next month haven't. Write for them.Jim's rule, from Part 4 of the kit

How it works

Three pieces. Set up once.

Every morning

The daily review check

Your AI looks for new reviews and any old ones you never answered, drafts a reply for each, and puts anything risky at the top: low stars, an employee named, money, damage or a legal threat. If nothing came in, you get one line: "No new reviews."

Every review

The reply writer

Rules for every rating, read from a voice profile you fill in once. It uses the reviewer's name, mentions one specific thing they said, and keeps it to a few sentences. It never argues, never mentions a price, and never offers anything for a changed review.

The ugly ones

The 1-star playbook

A 60-second triage before you reply, a three-part reply that works whether or not you agree with the review, and ready answers for the six situations that come up most, including the review from someone who was never your customer.

04-1-star-reply.txt

Inside the 1-star playbook

Calm and specific wins. Defensive loses, even when you're right.

Thank them, by name

Even when it stings. It shows you read it and you're not rattled.

Own it, no excuses

"That's not the experience we want for anyone" works whether or not you agree with every word.

Take it offline

A real name and a direct number. Readers see you'll fix it, and the details leave public view.

Never in public

  • Arguing about who's right
  • The job, the price, or their account
  • Confirming someone was a patient or client
  • A discount for changing the review
  • Sarcasm. It never reads the way you meant it.
  • Anything typed while you're still angry

People forgive a bad day. They don't forgive a defensive owner.Jim's rule

Who it's for

Built for the owner who answers the phone.

  • You run a local business (plumbing, HVAC, dental, salon, roofing, anything with a Google profile) and the reviews land on you.
  • You have unanswered reviews right now, or a 1-star you've been avoiding.
  • You already use an AI assistant, or you're willing to start with a free one.
  • You want the replies to sound like you, not like a call center.

Skip it if

  • You already answer every review within a day and like doing it.

Jim Lastinger

I've run Google Ads for local businesses for more than 23 years, through my agency Deep Field and American Service Leads. I watch owners pay good money for the click, then lose the customer to a competitor with better-answered reviews. This kit is the reply routine I set up for clients, written so you can run it yourself.

Questions

Before you buy

Will it post replies without me?

No. Every template says "draft only." The AI writes the reply and one line on anything to check, and you post it yourself. Nothing goes out under your name that you didn't read.

Do I have to connect my Google account to anything?

No. If your AI can connect to your Google Business Profile, it can check every morning on its own. If not, turn on Google's review emails, paste the review into your AI with the word "Reply," and you have a draft in seconds.

Which AI do I need?

Any assistant that keeps saved instructions: a Claude Project, a ChatGPT custom GPT or Project, or a Gemini Gem. The kit shows where to paste everything for each one.

Will the replies sound like a robot?

That's what the voice profile is for. You describe how you talk the way you'd brief a new hire, list the phrases you never use, and every reply reads from it. When a reply sounds off, you fix the profile once instead of every reply.

Is any of this against Google's rules?

No. The reply writer never offers anything in exchange for changing or removing a review, and the Request Kit covers the rules on asking: no incentives, no screening out unhappy customers, no writing reviews for people.

Is this a course?

No videos, no modules. It's a guide and four text files. Most people finish setup in one sitting.
